Mia S. McPherson brings to the firm her 18+ years of experience as a Public Defender for DuPage County, private defense counsel, Local Prosecutor and a fierce family law advocate.

Her inside perspective gained as a public defender and a local prosecutor, as well as her experience conducting countless jury and bench trials, gives Mia the edge. She has experience in prosecuting and defending DUI, Driving While License Suspended, Domestic Battery, and a multitude of misdemeanor and felony cases. She uses her unique experience in reviewing the facts and circumstances of every client's case to develop new and successful criminal defense strategies.

In the family law arena, she uses her extensive experience in the courtroom to further divorce negotiations and reach amicable settlements whenever possible. She is well-versed in the new divorce laws effective January 1, 2016 and has proven a worthy adversary in hearings on Orders of Protection, Custody (n/k/a Allocation of Parental Responsibilities and Parenting Time), and divorce.

Mia grew up in a small town in Indiana. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Purdue University in May 1995. She furthered her education by attending DePaul University College of Law, Chicago, Illinois, graduating with her Juris Doctorate in 1998.

Shortly thereafter, she joined the DuPage County Public Defender's Office as an Assistant Public Defender. In 2004, she joined a law firm in Elmhurst, Illinois where she practiced municipal law and prosecuted for the City of Elmhurst, City of Oakbrook Terrace, Village of Westmont, Village of Oak Brook and Village of Wayne.

In 2009, she formed her own law firm where she continued to prosecute for the Village of Wayne and honed her skills as a family law attorney.

Mia currently resides in Dupage County with her husband and two sons. You may see her at a Blackhawks game rooting for her favorite team or cheering on her sons at a local hockey tournament.
