Public Act 97-0578, enacted in 2012, requires persons convicted of a sex crimes in another state to register in Illinois, for life, and within three days.  Registration is part of your punishment and part of your lifelong supervision, and you must regularly update your information for the registry when you move or cross any state lines. As a sex offender, you may be subject to certain restrictions, such as not living or working within 1,000 feet of schools, day cares, churches, swimming pools and bus stops.
